Vietravel Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MakeMyTrip, India's leading online travel platform, with the aim of attracting more Indian tourists to Vietnam by offering a unique combination of holiday packages.

Addressing the signing ceremony in New Delhi on November 14, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai spotlighted the development of the relationship between Vietnam and India across fields. He noted that from six flights before the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines now operate 65 direct ones connecting the two countries.

He announced that a few weeks ago, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and India agreed to increase the flight frequency from big cities of the two nations from 28 to 42 direct flights, paving the way for better travel and more opportunities for tourists to explore cultural and tourism destinations in the countries.

Thanks to direct flights, connectivity between the two countries has never been easier, with e-Visas applied to all Indian passengers entering multiple times within three months, the diplomat said.

Hai showed his hope that alongside efforts by Vietravel Group, travel firms from both Vietnam and India will continue to explore mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities, helping establish a solid foundation for tourism cooperation in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

For his part, Chief Commercial Officer of Holidays and Experiences at MakeMyTrip Jasmeet Singh said the partnership with Vietravel highlights its commitment to diversifying travel experience for Indian tourists with customised and unique packages, helping them fully enjoy the diverse services that Vietnam offers.

Nguyen Quy Phuong from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) thanked Indian partners for their continuous support in promoting Vietnam as a travel destination, noting that the authority aims to enhance Vietnam's image as a top destination for Indian tourists through joint marketing campaigns, tourism promotion, and cultural exchange activities; and strengthen cooperation with partners in India to provide seamless and unforgettable travel experiences for all Indian visitors.

Earlier that day, Vietravel, one of the leading tour operators in Vietnam specialising in flights, accommodation services, and outbound and inbound tours, officially launched Viet India Travel Pvt. Ltd. in India.

Vietnam is emerging as one of the most sought-after destinations for Indian travelers. This contributes to an increase in the number of Indian visitors to Vietnam, with 392,000 last year. In the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam served 395,000 Indian tourists.

Currently, India ranks among the top 6 countries with the highest number of tourists visiting Vietnam. The Southeast Asian nation is expecting to receive over 500,000 arrivals from the South Asian nation this year.
