VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a welcoming ceremony in Hanoi on August 28 for his Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong who is in Hanoi for an official visit to Vietnam.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrives in Hanoi on August 27 for a three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh. In the photo, PM Chinh hosts a welcoming ceremony for the Singaporean guest.
Lee’s visit to Vietnam is of great significance as the two countries are celebrating 50 years of their diplomatic ties and 10 years of their strategic partnership this year.
The two PMs salute the national flags of both Vietnam and Singapore, and then review the honour of guard of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Singapore is one of Vietnam’s leading investors, injecting more than US$70 billion into 3,031 valid projects.
The Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model is a success story in economic cooperation between the two countries. Twelve such VSIPs have been established across Vietnam and the two countries have agreed to raise the number to 15 in the coming years.
These VSIPs have so far operated efficiently, using more than 7,000ha of land, attracting about US$18 billion in investment capital and creating more than 312,000 jobs.
Singapore is Vietnam’s leading economic partner in the region. Vietnam is Singapore’s 12th largest trading partner while Singapore is Vietnam’s 15th largest trading partner. In the photo, the two PMs pose for a photo ahead of their talks in Hanoi.
Two-way trade turnover between the two countries reached about US$9.15 billion last year, up 11.57% year on year.
During the talks, the two sides examine ways to bring their partnership to new heights.
While staying in Vietnam, PM Lee is scheduled to meet with senior Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. He will also have a number of other activities in Hanoi.
