VOV.VN - Thousands of locals and tourists flocked to District 5 in Ho Chi Minh City on February 12 to celebrate Tet Nguyen Tieu, the first full moon festival of the year, a major event for the Vietnamese Chinese community.
The first full moon festival is the time for Vietnamese Chinese community to highlight their cultural identity by organising their largest street parade, featuring lion dances and performers in different costumes.
Over 1,500 artists parade through the main streets in the Cho Lon (big market) area, better known as Chinatown.
Stilt walkers dressed as fairies from Chinese mythology perform during the parade.

The first full moon festival was first organised in Cho Lon in 1990. Since then, it has become a traditional part of the Vietnamese Chinese community in Ho Chi Minh City.
