VOV.VN - Vietnam will take on Indonesia in the second qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup after the latter trounced Brunei 6-0 in the first qualifying round played on October 17.
The win ultimately sent Indonesia to the second qualifying round alongside Iraq, the Philippines, and Vietnam in Group F.
A total of 36 teams divided into nine groups will compete in the second qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian region.
According to the schedule, in November the Vietnamese team led by coach Philippe Troussier will play an away game against the Philippines on November 16 and then return for a home game against Iraq on November 21.
Before playing away in Indonesia on March 21, 2024, Vietnam will also face off against them in the qualification stage of the 2023 Asian Cup on November 19, 2024.
According to the tournament rules, the top two teams from each group will make it to the third round and secure direct qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup. The remaining 18 teams will proceed to the third and final round of qualifiers.
