VOV.VN - Vietnam wants to closely cooperate with ASEAN+3 countries to enhance regional tourism connectivity, promote tourist exchanges and effectively implement cooperation programmes that bring practical benefits to the region.
Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, deputy director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment at the 47th ASEAN Plus Three National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) Meeting held in Boracay, the Philippines, on August 6.
Mai acknowledged the active support from Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea - ASEAN’s three partner countries - in fostering tourism development in the region, particularly during the post-COVID-19 recovery period. She also expressed Vietnam’s desire to continue learning from their experiences, sharing initiatives, and enhancing human resource training to foster sustainable development in the tourism industry.
She announced that from now until the end of 2025, Vietnam would organise a series of tourism promotion and cultural exchanges in China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, with the participation of tourism industry leaders.
To carry out these activities effectively, she proposed that the partner countries assist by providing lists of local travel businesses and coordinating the invitation of journalists and local KOLs to participate in promotional events, in order to enhance communication effectiveness and attract public interest.
The meeting reviewed the progress of ASEAN+3 tourism cooperation in recent years; discussed future development directions; and identified priority activities to foster sustainable and effective tourism development across the region.
Representatives of China, Japan, the RoK and the Philippines all showed commitment to ramping up tourism cooperation through strategic initiatives, experience sharing, human resource training, and expanded bilateral and multilateral collaboration for a sustainable and prosperous tourism future in the region.
