VOV.VN - The Vietnamese U23 men’s national team lost to Jordan in a behind-closed doors friendly match held on April 10 in Qatar ahead of the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Cup finals.
The Vietnamese U23 men’s national team fly to Qatar on April 8 to take part in a friendly match against Jordan’s U23s on April 10.
Local striker Nguyen Dinh Bac puts in a strong performance during the match.
Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet plays the whole 90 minutes, while goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan is used only during penalty shootout.
Striker Vo Nguyen Hoang misses several chances to score.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan mases some substitutions in the second half of the game.
Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Minh Quang, and Bui Vi Hao are among the footballers to play during the second half.
Bui Vi Hao can’t beat the Jordanian goalkeeper.
The squad consists of footballers who are already familiar with coach Hoang Anh Tuan from youth levels, including previous U17, U19, and U20 tournaments; as well as the most recent championship title won by Vietnam at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U23 Championship.
Vietnam ultimately lose 4-3 to Jordan in a penalty shootout.
At the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, which will run from April 15 to May 3 in Qatar, Vietnam are set to play in Group D. They will face Kuwait, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan on April 17, April 20, and April 23, respectively. The tournament is also meant to determine the Asian representatives for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
