VOV.VN - Vietnam has the third largest number of FIFA-accredited referees in Southeast Asia after Thailand and Malaysia, according to ASEAN Football, the official website of the ASEAN Football Federation.
The ASEAN Football forum recently released rankings of the number of FIFA referees from 11 countries in the Southeast Asian region. Vietnam ranks third with 4 referees, 7 male assistant referees, 3 female referees, and 2 female assistant referees. In addition, it also has 3 referees for futsal.
In 2024, Vietnam had four male FIFA referees, namely Ngo Duy Lan, Hoang Ngoc Ha, Nguyen Manh Hai, and Le Vu Linh. Most recently, referee Tran Ngoc Anh was accredited by FIFA, bringing the total number up to five.
Elsewhere, Thailand leads the Southeast Asian region in the number of FIFA referees with 6 male referees, 8 male assistant referees, 3 female referees, 3 female assistant referees, and 5 FIFA futsal referees. Second place in the region goes to Malaysia that has 11 FIFA referees in total.
