VOV.VN - Traditionally, the Ede ethnic people of Dak Lak province in the Central Highlands, hold a ritual in April to pray for rain, favourable weather, bountiful crops, a prosperous life, and happiness.
The ceremony often takes place in April when the crop growing season starts.
In the early morning, many people gather together at the Ky hamlet communal house to prepare for the rain worship ritual.
Offerings are put on a two-story hut, named Puk in the Ede ethnic language.
Men then arrange a set of gongs ahead of the main ritual.
When the gongs are played, the shaman sits in front of the Puk hut and begins the ritual. He prays to the gods of the sky, the earth, and the rain to pour water down on the fields for the plants to grow.
Then the shaman uses his feet to draw small squares on the ground representing the fields. He walks from square to square, holding a stick in each hand and poking holes in the ground. Ede women follow him, sowing seeds in the holes.
Meanwhile, local men make use of arrows to scare insects away to protect their crops.
Locals perform a ritual of sowing seeds.
After the ritual, all of the villagers eat and drink together in the communal house.
