Tourists flock to see frost on Mau Son peak

VOV.VN - Many tourists have visited the peak of Mau Son Mountain in the northern province of Lang Son over recent days as they head to witness frost which has formed at the 1,500 metre-mountain peak.
Data from the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting shows that the temperature on the mountain on the morning of January 24 dropped to minus 2.9 degrees Celsius.
January 25 marks the third consecutive day that the northern region has faced extreme cold weather.
Trees and bushes take on a glass-like appearance after being left covered in ice.
Many tourists from Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong flock to see frost on Mau Son peak.
Visitors wrap up warm as they venture into the winter landscape and pose for photos.
The frost has created a white coating over all of the trees on Mau Son Mountain peak, thereby creating a rare natural scene in the area.
A severe cold spell has been hitting the northern and north-central regions since January 22, with the weather event bringing sub-zero temperatures to several places and causing frost to occur in high mountainous areas, with the cold predicted to last until January 27.
Frost begins to melt on the afternoon of January 25 as temperatures fall to between one and two degrees Celsius.
In Phia Oac mountainous area in Cao Bang province, frost also appears before it gradually melts on January 25.
