The capital city of Hanoi welcomed 160,000 tourists, marking an annual increase of 17%. Of the total, the capital hosted 28,000 foreigners, representing an increase of 67% year on year.

Many tourist attractions in the city organised attractive activities to stimulate demand and lure more visitors. Tourist spots such as Hanoi Zoo (or Thu Le Park) and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Hanoi, received 18,535 arrivals and 8,000 arrivals on January 1, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, a tourism hub in the southern region, saw approximately 750,000 people visit tourist attractions, entertainment sites, and shopping malls from December 31 to January 1, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

The number of foreign arrivals to the city hit 41,215, whilst the New Year holiday saw the city rake in tourism revenue of over VND2 trillion.

Elsewhere, Da Nang, a major tourist destination in central Vietnam, welcomed nearly 2,000 European visitors of the New Year on board cruise ship Noordam of Holland American Line.

The tourists were due to spend two days visiting famous attractions such as the Marble Mountains, Linh Ung Pagoda, the Cham Sculpture Museum, and My Khe Beach, while exploring the city by cyclo along the scenic streets by the Han River.

According to local authorities, the number of visitors arriving in the city by sea in 2025 is expected to grow significantly. Tien Sa Port is projected to welcome 76 cruise ships, an increase of 41 compared to 2024, with an estimated passenger volume exceeding 70,000, up 64% year on year.

Meanwhile, the first day of 2025 saw Da Nang International Airport welcome 125 flights, including 57 international flights. Airport authorities say during the New Year holiday period from December 28, 2024 to January 1, 2025, the airport received over 600 flights, marking a 15.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In 2025, Da Nang aims to attract more than 11.9 million visitors, up 10% from 2024.

In the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, the number of tourists visiting local tourist attractions from December 30 to January 1 stood at around 25,000. The average hotel occupancy rate reached 60%.

Khanh Hoa has planned to organise a range of festivals, along with tourism, sporting, and cultural events in an effort to bolster the province’s tourism brand and attract more visitors this year.
