VOV.VN - Many local tourist destinations, including Ha Giang, Moc Chau, Da Nang, and Phu Yen won the praise of international media in 2023, helping to further enhance their reputation as part of the global tourism map.
In January, the New York Times listed Ha Giang among 52 destinations to visit in 2023. The US media outlet suggested that visitors take time to explore the diverse cultures of ethnic minorities in the area, such as the H’Mong and Tay, as well as take a boat ride on the emerald Nho Que River through the canyon at Ma Pi Leng Pass.
In February, 2023, South China Morning Post (SCMP) of Hong Kong (China) included Ban Gioc Waterfall in the northern province of Cao Bang on the border with China in its list of the world's most Instagrammable international borders. This comes after magazine Travel+Leisure of the US had named Ban Gioc Waterfall among the top 21 most beautiful waterfalls in the world. In addition, US website Wonderslist listed the site as one of the world’s most amazing waterfalls globally.
Also in February, 2023, the editors of American magazine Condé Nast Traveler selected Mu Cang Chai in the northern province of Yen Bai among the world's 40 most colorful places to brighten up winter days. These rice paddies have gained Instagram fame for their impressive angles in a topographically challenging region, the US media outlet wrote.
Moc Chau, which is home to the world's longest glass bridge in the mountainous province of Son La was crowned as “Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination” and “Vietnam’s Leading Regional Nature Destination” for the second consecutive time at the World Travel Awards 2023.
In April, the northern province of Ninh Binh was selected by US magazine Forbes as one of the 23 best places to travel around the world in 2023. “Ninh Binh has been named one of the most underrated destinations in Asia, and it’s often referred to as one of the most beautiful hidden gems on the Asian continent,” says Catarina Mello, an award-winning luxury travel content creator, photographer, entrepreneur, and online educator, as cited by Forbes.
Tam Dao in the northern province of Vinh Phuc received the World’s Leading Town Destination at an award ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2023. Thanks to its cool climate, Tam Dao town has long been one of the most attractive destinations in northern Vietnam for both domestic and foreign visitors alike.
Among the World Travel Awards picked up last year by the Vietnamese tourism sector, the Red River Delta province of Ha Nam for the first time was honoured as "World's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2023" at the World Travel Awards.
US-based magazine Condé Nast Traveler (CNTraveler) picked Con Dao island among the top 16 best island vacations in the world. The beaches on the island are quiet and the few resort options allow for a unique retreat, the article wrote.
The Sydney Morning Herald’s Traveller identified Mekong Delta as one of the world’s most attractive places in 2023 which visitors should not miss. Traveller’s writer Ben Groundwater shared that there are many different ways to explore this rich delta of Vietnam. Tourists are able to take a boat ride on the river or look for more luxurious options.
CNN listed dragon-themed Thuy Tien Water Park on the outskirts of Hue in the centre of the country among the world’s 10 fascinating theme parks in 2023. The amusement park opened back in 2004 and closed down just a few months later due to financial problems.
