The annual event organised by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to connect overseas Vietnamese from different parts of the world.
Upon addressing the opening ceremony of summer camp in Hanoi on July 20, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang expressed hope that the event would offer overseas Vietnamese the opportunity to interact with local young people in Vietnam. In addition, it would help participants to improve their knowledge of the Vietnamese language and to better understand Vietnamese history and culture.
This year's event is scheduled to take place across 10 localities, namely Hanoi, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and Da Nang.
The camp will take place from July 18 to August 2, participants will have a chance to visit and learn about the culture, history, and traditions of the country, hold exchanges with local youngsters, and take part in voluntary youth programmes and sport competitions.
