VOV.VN - The Ministry of National Defence hosted a ceremony on September 24 at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi to see off 247 Vietnamese officers who will carry out UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Abyei area.

Addressing the event, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan notes that the Party and State always appreciate the achievements recorded by Vietnamese forces participating in UN peacekeeping activities, highlighting them as a bright spot in the country’s multilateral foreign relations.

She encourages the officers to uphold the tradition and build upon the achievements recorded during previous peacekeeping forces to fulfil their tasks, thereby helping to further elevate the image of Vietnam and its people in the modern era.
A total of 247 Vietnamese officers, including 63 officers from the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 6 and 184 officers from Engineering Unit Rotation 3, will undertake the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Many relatives come to the airport to bid farewell to the departing Vietnamese officers.
