The second Vietnamese Banh Mi (baguette) festival kicks off on May 17 in Ho Chi Minh City following its debut event launched back in 2023.
The festival brings together a total of 150 pavilions from domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and businesses, with the ultimate aim of recognising the value of bread in Vietnamese cuisine, whilst simultaneously honourinng the skill and creativity of local bakers.
The festival showcases impressive images at the entrance using Vietnamese Banh Mi (baguette).
Up to 150 types of fillings and side dishes used in the Vietnamese baguette are featured on a giant model at the second festival.
The expansive baguette model set up at the festival represents an assortment of variants of the dish, including baguette with salmon and lemon sauce, as well as baguettes with vegetable and cheese.
The organisers will arrange a special area specifically for visitors to experience making baguette by clay, thereby helping visitors to explore the Vietnamese food culture.
Many visitors wait to sample the free baguette.
Some booths displaying traditional food prove popular among visitors.
Foreign visitors are eager to taste Vietnamese baguette during the duration of the festival.
It marks the first time that visitors have had the chance to see chefs make the baguette at the festival.
VietKings, the Vietnamese record organisation, awards a certificate for a national record of 150 types of fillings and side dishes for Vietnamese baguettes which are displayed on a giant model of baguette at the event.
