Russia moves to launch visa-free group travel with Vietnam

Cập nhật: 4 giờ trước

VOV.VN - Russia is working to establish a visa-free group travel scheme with Vietnam, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation announced on June 24.

According to the ministry, a draft intergovernmental agreement, initially proposed by Vietnam, is currently being finalised. Once relevant Russian agencies complete their internal consultations, the draft will be forwarded to the Vietnamese side.

The ministry said that implementing the scheme will take time due to the need for close coordination between the two countries. The initiative aims to simplify travel procedures and create more favourable conditions for tourists from both sides.

Currently, Vietnam grants visa-free entry for Russian citizens for stays of up to 45 days. Vietnamese nationals, in turn, can apply for an e-visa to enter Russia for up to 30 days.

In May, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation through 2030. The MoU aims to boost visitor exchanges and marks an important step in strengthening bilateral tourism ties and people-to-people connections.
