VOV.VN - The administration of South Jeolla province in the Republic of Korea (RoK) announced an agreement on August 21 to operate regular international flights between Muan Airport and Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa province, an attractive tourist destination in central Vietnam.

According to the plan, regular flights between the two airports are scheduled to officially open from late October.

Flag carrier Pacific Airlines, an affiliate of Vietnam Airlines Group, will operate the Muan-Nha Trang route with a frequency of two flights per week, starting from late October.

This is the first time a regular flight will be opened at Muan Airport since the COVID-19 outbreak.

In the past, Muan Airport had 14 regular routes connecting the RoK to nine countries worldwide. Currently, the Korean airport is operating chartered flights to seven destinations in Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, and China.

Kim Yung-rok, governor of South Jeolla province, said that regular flights would help people to travel conveniently between the two countries, whilst also promoting cultural exchange activities.

In a bid to attract more Vietnamese tourists, from March 15 South Jeolla has applied a visa exemption programme lasting for 15 days for Vietnamese citizens.

South Jeolla province is located in the southwestern part of the RoK and is 300km from Seoul. Its capital city is Muan.

The locality enjoys a relatively mild climate, and it boasts majestic natural scenery. The unique combination of mountains, forests, and sea has made South Jeolla a famous tourist destination in the RoK.
