VOV.VN - Phu Quoc island in southern Vietnam is expected to receive a surge in Russian tourists at the end of 2025, coinciding with the peak travel season as Russians seek to escape the cold winter months.
According to the Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR), demand for Phu Quoc tours among Russian travelers for the 2025–2026 winter season is projected to increase by 30–35% compared to last year. Major Russian travel agencies such as Anex, Russian Express, and Space Travel are already promoting tour packages to the island.
Charter flights to Phu Quoc are scheduled to operate from eight Russian cities starting November, including Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Novokuznetsk, and Novosibirsk.
In addition, a Vietnamese airline is planning to launch direct flights from cities like Vladivostok, Blagoveshchensk, and Khabarovsk to Phu Quoc, beginning in October or November this year.
There is also a notable rise in Russian visitors choosing connecting flights through Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Russian tour operators are seeing strong interest in Phu Quoc. PAC reports that Phu Quoc tops their list for winter bookings in Vietnam. ITM notes that the island accounts for 20% of their total hotel bookings in the country, with one out of every three reservations for Phu Quoc during peak season.
Space Travel believes Phu Quoc’s potential could grow further with additional direct flights. “Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the market still has significant room for growth. Currently, we’ve reached about 50–60% of 2019 levels, and to return to those numbers, we need more direct flights from Moscow and other major cities,” said a Space Travel representative.
