VOV.VN - The new domestic passenger terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport which costs approximately VND11 trillion is ready for its first flights from April 19 after more than two years of construction.
The grand opening of Terminal T3 is set to take place on April 19 to mark the 50th anniversary of national reunification day (April 30, 1975 - 2025).
The project, with construction work beginning in December 2022, aims to alleviate congestion at the overburdened T1 terminal and enhance passenger services.
The T3 terminal encompasses a total floor area of 112,500 square metres and its interior has been designed in a smart and modern style.
The terminal features 90 check-in counters, 20 automated baggage drop stations, 42 check-in kiosks, 27 boarding gates, 16 baggage storage systems, and 25 security checkpoints.
The new terminal is expected to serve over 20 million passengers annually, helping to reduce congestion at domestic terminal T1.
All luggage conveyor systems, baggage scanners, and automatic tray return systems have also been completed.
All Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air domestic flights will move to Terminal T3 after it will be put into operation on April 19.
Around 200 workers are working daily to clean the main lobby, lounges, and other areas, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
Clean-up activities will be completed on April 17.
Terminal T3 will be officially put into operation on April 19 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
