VOV.VN - More than 400 locals took part in a street parade on January 19 held in the Old Quarter in the heart of Hanoi as part of the annual “Tết Việt tết phố” programme to celebrate the coming Lunar New Year (Tet).

After the parade, a ritual of erecting a “Neu” tree gets underway at Kim Ngan Temple. “Neu” is a tall bamboo pole believed to ward off evil so that the souls of the ancestors can enjoy Tet with their family members, the most important festival held in the Vietnamese calendar.
