VOV.VN - Various military vehicles, artillery systems, and specialized weapons were deployed during the second rehearsal held on the morning of August 5 at the National Military Training Centre 4 on the outskirts of Hanoi, preparing for the upcoming major National Day parade.
T-54 and T-55 are the most commonly used main battle tanks of the Vietnamese armoured forces.
These tanks, that played vital roles throughout many historical periods, especially during wartime, have now been upgraded with modern fire-control systems, digital technology, and enhanced firing accuracy.
The T-90, a third-generation Russian main battle tank developed to replace the T 72, is known for its combination of powerful firepower, high mobility, and multilayered armour protection.
It is equipped with a powerful weapons system and high automation, including ballistic computers, thermal-optical sensors, surveillance equipment, and automatic target tracking systems, allowing it to accurately engage targets in all time and weather conditions.
In addition to T-54, T-55, and T-90 tanks, the Vietnam People’s Army also operates amphibious armoured fighting vehicles with strong firepower and high mobility.
The armoured vehicle formation consists of four advanced types, each crewed by three soldiers, capable of rapid deployment across all terrains.
These modern weapon systems are being equipped to mechanised infantry and armoured units across the armed forces.
A formation of self-propelled anti-tank artillery also participate in the rehearsal.
The XCB 01 armoured infantry fighting vehicle, designed and produced by Vietnam’s General Department of Defence Industry, is equipped with a smoothbore cannon, anti-aircraft missiles, and can carry eight soldiers.
The Truong Son coastal defence missile system is one of the modern weapon systems researched and developed by the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel). It is a mobile coastal defence system designed to counter maritime threats, with the mission of destroying surface warships at ranges up to 80 km.
The system is equipped with VSM 01A subsonic missiles and radar capable of scanning up to 200 km, sufficient to detect and track sea targets.
The S 125 missiles, modernised by Viettel and introduced at the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024, now boast a target hit rate of up to 90%.
Notably, the rehearsal also features the Scud B ballistic missile, and Vietnam is the first and only military in Southeast Asia to field tactical ballistic Scud missiles.
Various types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are also deployed during the rehearsal.
The rehearsal additionally includes the SPYDER missile system imported from Israel.
