VOV.VN - Military helicopters and transport aircraft conducted rehearsal flights over Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on August 21 in preparation for the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).
At around 11 a.m., a formation made up of 10 military helicopters flew over central Hanoi, passing above Ba Dinh Square during rehearsal drills.
As part of the A80 parade to mark Vietnam’s National Day, the Air Defense – Air Force Command deployed multiple helicopter types, including the Mi-17, Mi-171, and Mi-172.
The 10 helicopters took off from Hoa Lac Airport and flew in a 1-3-3-3 formation.
The helicopter squadron completed a total of three flyovers above Ba Dinh Square during the morning exercise.
Helicopters passed over Hanoi’s iconic Hoan Kiem Lake during the rehearsal flight.
The aircraft formation was seen flying above the Vietnam Military History Museum.

Hundreds of spectators gather together early in the morning in Ba Dinh Square to witness the rehearsal flights, with many locals seeing such a spectacle for the first time.

For the official National Day parade set to take place on September 2, the Air Defense – Air Force plans to deploy nine formations comprising of 30 aircraft, operating from Hoa Lac, Gia Lam, and Kep airports.
Officers and soldiers of the military and public security forces, along with modern weapons and equipment, took part in the fourth full-dress joint rehearsal in Hanoi on August 16 for the upcoming parade to be staged at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
