VOV.VN - Vietnam and Japan have issued a joint statement on upgrading their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership during Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong’s official visit from November 26 to 30.

After their talks, the two leaders issue a joint statement on lifting Vietnam – Japan relations to the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
The two sides agree to effectively implement bilateral dialogue mechanisms, strengthen defense cooperation, and enhance cooperation on safety and security at sea.
Japan reaffirms its continued support for Vietnam in building an independent, self-reliant economy, deeply integrating internationally, and realizing national industrialization and modernization ambition toward becoming a developed country by 2045.
Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong also receives Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Toshihiro Nikai, former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and a number of parliamentarians in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
During his meeting with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, President Vo Van Thuong thanked the Emperor and Empress for their good feeling and support to Vietnamese people as well as the friendship and cooperation over the years.
President Vo Van Thuong also meets with former Prime Minister and Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Taro Aso, President of the Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo, Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Kazuo Shii and group of Japanese parliamentarians and friends close to Vietnam.
