VOV.VN - The Loi Protip water lantern release festival and a performance of the Ca Hau boat on November 12, which took place as part of the Ooc Om Bok festival in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, drew plenty of attention from both locals and tourists.
The annual Ok Om Bok festival takes place under the full moon on the 10th lunar month to mark the harvest time. Through the festival, locals expect to show sincere thanks to the gods for favourable weather conditions coupled with a bumper harvest.
The highlights of the festival are the Loi Protip water lantern release festival and a performance of the Ca Hau boat.

The event offers residents a chance to thank the water god for bringing a peaceful life to them and giving hope of better things over the coming year.

The festival helps to honour the traditional culture of local Khmer ethnics.
A total of 20 Loi Protip water lanterns and five Ca Hau boats bring a festive atmosphere to the event.
Ok Om Bok is one of the three main festivals along with Sene Dolta and Chol Chnam Thmay that Khmer people celebrate every year. A string of activities are launched during the week, including the ghe ngo (Khmer long boat) race, a moon worshipping ritual, an OCOP fair, a street food festival, and an art exhibition.
