VOV.VN - Heavy downpour as a consequence of the tropical depression has caused water levels in major rivers of central Vietnam to swell up over the past few days, flooding many localities in the region.
The tropical depression struck central Vietnam on September 26, travelled further inland and weakened into a low pressure area in Laos.
But localities in central Vietnam had experienced heavy rain before the tropical depression made landfall, inundating many streets in Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and other localities in the region. (Photo: VTC News)
Many localities reported they have received between 100 and 300mm or even 350mm of rain, submerging their major arteries and low-lying areas. (Photo: VTC News)
Severe flooding cut off many border communes of Quang Tri province, forcing local households to move to a higher high ground overnight.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has also caused landslides along several national highways, disrupting traffic for hours.
