Hang Ma Street gets hectic as Mid-Autumn festival nears

VOV.VN - With over one month to go, shops located on Hang Ma street in Hanoi have been busy making preparations for the upcoming Mid-Autumn festival by displaying a range of colourful ornaments, allowing visitors to soak up the festive atmosphere when visiting the famous street.
The Mid-Autumn festival, known as Tet Trung Thu in Vietnamese, is one of the nation’s largest celebrations. Although the festival is largely aimed at children, recent years has seen the event enjoyed by people of all ages.
A shop is decorated with giant carp-shaped lanterns, drawing plenty of attention from passers-by.
The shop owner shares that he has spent around VND300 million to prepare special carp-shaped lanterns for decoration.
When visiting Hang Ma street these days, anyone can take in the busy atmosphere amid people buying and selling goods.
Shops located along the street display both traditional and modern decorative items and toys for children ahead of the Mid-Autumn festival.
Most of the toys here are lanterns which are among the favourite items of many consumers.
Carp-shaped lanterns cost around VND60,000 to VND300,000 each.
A range of traditional toys, including star-shaped lanterns worth VND10,000 to VND70,000 each, can be found on sale at shops on Hang Ma street.
The prices of lion heads range from VND300,000 to VND600,000 each.
There is plenty of variety for buyers of Vietnamese masks to enjoy, with a wide selection available this year.
The Mid-Autumn festival usually sees children given special gifts for them to enjoy.
The special occasion helps to remind young people of their childhood.
