Hang Luoc traditional flower market bustling as Tet draws near

VOV.VN - The traditional flower market located on Hang Luoc street in Hanoi has become overcrowded with customers in recent days as people prepare to welcome in the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, the country’s largest annual festival.
Hanoi's famous Hang Luoc flower market will remain open until February 9, the 30th day of the last lunar month, in order to serve the Tet demand among Hanoians and nearby residents.
Dating back to the early 20th century, the annual flower market is considered to be the oldest of its kind in the capital.
Many customers drive along the streets by motorbike as they select the perfect flowers and decorative items for their homes.
Kumquat trees are on sale with prices ranging from VND300,000 to VND1 million.
The traditional market stretches from Hang Luoc street to the nearby streets of Hang Ruoi, Hang Ma, and Hang Khoai, as well as the mural section of Phung Hung street.
Customers can easily find flowers and festive decorative items which are suitable for their annual Tet celebrations.
Stalls are set up along the streets selling traditional Vietnamese flowers for Tet decorations, such as peach blossoms, kumquats, yellow blossoms, ornamental plants, and other home decoration items.
The traditional market is a favourite place among many youngsters to pose for photos.
The Hang Luoc flower market is a long-standing market based in the capital. It only convenes once a year, opening from the 15th to 30th day of the last lunar month.
