VOV.VN - An annual incense offering festival of the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) Temple was held on February 9, or the 12th day of the first lunar month, in the border district of Song Ma in the northern mountainous province of Son La, attracting hordes of locals and tourists.

The annual event aims to uphold the tradition of patriotism and tribute to two famous Vietnamese heroines, including the two sisters Trung Trac and Trung Nhi.
The Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) Temple was originally built in Dan Phuong district in Hanoi in 1852.
In 1975, the temple was moved to Song Ma border district in Son La province.
Since then, an incense offering festival of the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) Temple has been organised in tribute to the two sisters Trung Trac and Trung Nhi.
The temple spanning an area of 520 square metres was restored in November, 2011.
The incense offering festival of the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) Temple is an important cultural event which takes place in Song Ma border district.
The festival opens with a water procession from Song Ma (Ma River) to the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) Temple.
The festival also includes many cultural activities, including traditional dances and drum beating performances.
The event features a rice cooking contest.
Folk games, including tug-of-war, serve to attract thousands of locals and tourists.
The festival is held as part of Son La province’s activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Snake.
