VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomed many heads of state, government leaders and parliamentarians of foreign countries during their working trips to the country in 2024, demonstrating their desires to promote comprehensive co-operation with the nation.
Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and his entourage arrive in Hanoi on the night of June 19, marking the start of a two-day state visit to the country. As part of the occasion, both sides issue a joint statement aimed at deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership based on the achievements of the three-decade implementation of their Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations.
The two leaders also witness the exchange of bilateral co-operation documents between ministries and sectors of both sides in various spheres, including education, nuclear technology research, disease prevention, oil exploration, and justice.
The state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith from September 10 to September 13 is a vivid demonstration of the great friendship, special solidarity, and faithful and pure relations between the two Parties, States, and people of both sides.

President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló makes an official visit to Vietnam from September 5 to September 8. The visit further contributes to the implementation of the plan on developing relations between Vietnam and Middle East-Africa nations in the 2016 to 2025 period.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev pay his five-day official visit to Vietnam from November 24 to November 28 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. During the visit, a joint statement is issued during the occasion, with the two sides signing three co-operation documents aiming to enhance comprehensive ties, especially in agriculture, electronics, information technology, artificial intelligence, and space research – all of which hare the fields where Bulgaria’s expertise aligns with Vietnamese needs.
The state visit to Vietnam by Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneat Norodom Sihamoni between November 28 and November 29 holds great significance. It is expected to further consolidate political trust between the two sides; promote economic, trade, and investment relations and people-to-people exchanges; and bolster co-operation on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The two-day working visit to Vietnam by President of the National Assembly (NA) of People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez helps to further enhance the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two countries. The visit on November 2 and November 3, made at the invitation of Chairman of the NA Tran Thanh Man takes place on the thresholds of the 65th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - 2025).
This year also sees many high-ranking foreign leaders make visits to the nation, including President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines in August, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul in October, and President of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan in November. The visits help to further deepen and enhance the overall effectiveness of ties with foreign countries across multiple fields.
