Flash floods sweep away three people in northern Lao Cai province

VOV.VN - Heavy rain which hit on the night of September 12 caused flash floods and landslides to hit several areas, resulting in the deaths of three people, leaving seven others missing in Sa Pa district of the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.
Flash flooding occurs in Lien Minh commune of Sa Pa on the night of September 12.
Many houses are destroyed as a result of the devastating floods.
Sudden flash floods also sweep away all or the salmon and sturgeon being raised locally, along with many other people's properties.
Torrential rain lasting approximately 30 minutes causes the water levels of three main streams in the Nam Pha, Nam Cang, and Nam Than communes to suddenly rise, preventing local residents from moving to a safe place.
Warning signs are deployed in areas at risk of inundation, flash floods, landslides, and erosion in an effort to guide residents and vehicles, as well as to ensure their safety.
Roads leading towards Lien Minh commune have been cut off due to high floodwaters and extensive inundated areas, thereby making many places inaccessible to rescue forces.
Heavy rain also floods many roads, causing local transportation to come to a standstill.
Sudden flash floods wash away the properties of many local residents based in Lien Minh commune.
Rescue teams reach the disaster-stricken area as they try to find those people reportedly missing following the flood.
Local authorities guide teams as they assist residents in moving to safe places.
