Five golds for Vietnam at World Youth Rapid & Blitz Championships

VOV.VN - Vietnamese chess players brought home five gold medals in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Youth Rapid & Blitz Championships 2024 which closed in Slovenia on December 17.
Dau Khuong Duy ultimately topped the boys' U14 blitz chess category after earning a total of 18 points from 16 wins and four draws.
Furthermore, after recording 9.5 points from 11 matches, Duy ultimately secured his world crown in the boys’ U14 rapid chess competition.
The Vietnamese youth chess team also celebrated their third gold medal awarded to Nguyen Binh Vy in the girls’ U16 rapid chess. Vy recorded an impressive performance with 9.5 points over 11 games to rise to top position.
In the girls’ U14 rapid chess, Dang Le Xuan Hien accumulated nine points after 11 matches, taking a gold medal.
The fifth Vietnamese world champion was Nguyen Ngoc Hien in the girls' U16 blitz chess.
The Vietnamese team also took two silver medals in the girls' U16 blitz and U14 blitz chess, and two bronze medals in the boys' U14 rapid and U14 blitz chess.
The world championship, which got underway from December 13 to 17, featured the participation of 323 chess masters from 35 countries and territories worldwide, competing in the U14, U16, and U18 age groups.
Vietnam sent a team of 15 players to checkmate in both rapid and blitz categories for boys and girls.
