VOV.VN - A cultural exchange and tourism promotion programme for Zunyi city, Guizhou province, China, was held in Hanoi on July 29, introducing new travel routes and experiences for Vietnamese tourists on the Guiyang – Maotai Town (Zunyi) – Chongqing corridor.

Located in northern Guizhou, Zunyi is known as an eco-city with diverse natural and cultural attractions, including UNESCO-recognised sites such as the Chishui Danxia Landform, Songhe Cave system, and vast tea plantations, earning it the title of “China’s Hometown of Tea.”

With well-developed air and road connectivity, tourism authorities and businesses from both countries are working to develop eco-tourism, high-end leisure tours, and culinary-cultural packages tailored to Vietnamese travelers.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, deputy director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, praised Zunyi's tourism potential, highlighting its abundance of ecological resources and diverse ethnic cultures. She also noted the notable tourism products of the region such as the "Red Tourism Route linked to the Long March," mountain eco-tourism, the famous Maotai liquor, and unique cuisine. These can be viewed as significant advantages for strengthening tourism connections between Zunyi and Vietnamese destinations.

According to the official, China has consistently been Vietnam’s top inbound tourism market over the years. In the first half of 2025 alone, Vietnam welcomed over 2.7 million Chinese visitors, a 44% increase year on year. Conversely, China remains a favoured destination for many Vietnamese tourists, with outbound travel from Vietnam to China steadily rising.

The positive trend of two-way tourist exchange between Vietnam and China will continue to grow moving forward, he said.

Representatives of Vietnamese travel agencies shared, visiting Zunyi is now easier with direct flights between Hanoi (HAN) and Guiyang (KWE) operated by Colourful Guizhou Airlines. Tour packages, typically 5 days, 4 nights, include visits to the historic Maotai Town, Chishui Waterfall, the largest waterfall in the Yangtze River Basin, and more.

Several travel firms are offering this attractive package, including Phuong Nam International Travel and Trading Co., Ltd. (PNTrip) and APEC Travel by Hongai Tours, with departures scheduled for August and September.

At the event, a representative from the Zunyi Department of Culture and Tourism also introduced a new, more diverse travel itinerary for Vietnamese tourists. The journey includes the historic Zunyi Conference site, Wujiangzhai Camp, Maotai Town, Tucheng Ancient Town, the Chishui Waterfall, and a night tour of Chongqing.
