VOV.VN - President Rumen Radev of Bulgaria, accompanied by the First Lady and high-ranking Bulgarian officials, paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 24 to 28 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
On November 24, the plane carrying Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, his spouse and the entourage lands at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, marking the start of their official visit to Vietnam.
Upon arrival in Hanoi, President Radev meets with the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association and Vietnamese individuals who studied or worked in Bulgaria.
On November 25, President Radev, the First Lady, and the high-level Bulgarian delegation lay wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and pay respects to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi.
Also on November 25 morning, President Luong Cuong and his spouse hosted an official welcoming ceremony for the Bulgarian President and his entourage. This marks the first official reception of a foreign head of state by President Luong Cuong since taking office in October.
Shortly after the welcoming ceremony, the two presidents hold talks, discussing major directions and concrete measures to strengthen and elevate bilateral relations.
President Radev expresses Bulgaria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in traditional areas such as defense, education, science, agriculture, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges while expanding into new fields, namely digital transformation, information technology, mineral processing, and environmental protection.
After the talks, the two leaders witness the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements and co-chair a press conference to announce the outcomes of their talks.
Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 25, President Radev pledges to advocate for the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and support efforts to lift the EU’s “yellow card” on Vietnam’s seafood exports.
Meeting with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the two leaders stress the need to foster cooperation in trade, investment, healthcare, education, security, and defense.
During a meeting with Party General Secretary To Lam, the two leaders discuss measures to elevate the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation, especially in areas where Bulgaria excels and Vietnam has demands.
Meanwhile, the First Ladies visited the Vietnam-Bulgaria Kindergarten, established in 1981 by the Bulgarian Women’s Union as a symbol of friendship.
Later in the day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan accompanies President Radev to the Vietnam Military History Museum. President Radev notes in the guestbook that the visit offers an unforgettable experience, showcasing Vietnam’s heroic spirit and resilience.
On November 26, President Radev delivers a speech at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, emphasizing Vietnam’s role as a bridge between Bulgaria and ASEAN and Bulgaria’s role as a gateway to the EU for Vietnam.
President Radev also travels to the northern port city of Hai Phong where he meets with city leaders to examine the possibility of increasing cooperation between Bulgarian localities and Hai Phong.
While in Hai Phong, the Bulgarian President also tours Lan Ha Bay, a local tourist attraction, and the VinFast Automobile Factory.
On November 27, he travels to Ho Chi Minh City to hold a meeting with the city’s Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen. He then witnesses the exchange of a cooperation letter between Ho Chi Minh City and Sofia.
In Ho Chi Minh City, President Radev participates in the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Forum and leaves for Sofia in the evening, concluding his official visit to Vietnam.
