VOV.VN - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his spouse hosted a welcoming ceremony in Hanoi on November 25 morning for Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his spouse who are on an official visit to Vietnam.
This is the first visit to Vietnam in 11 years by the President of Bulgaria and also the first visit of President Rumen Radev to Vietnam in his capacity as the head of state of Bulgaria.
The visit takes place in the context of positive developments in Vietnam-Bulgaria relations across most areas. (In the photo, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his spouse wave at children standing along the road to the Presidential Palace at the welcoming ceremony).
Politically and diplomatically, Bulgaria was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950. (In the photo, the convoy carrying the Bulgarian President and his entourage move into the Presidential Palace).
Over the years, both sides have regularly exchanged delegations at all levels, especially high-level visits, and have closely coordinated and supported each other at multilateral forums. The two countries have made progress in economic and trade cooperation, with two-way trade reaching US$200 million per year during the 2021-2023 period, nearly double the amount from 2019-2020. Education and training is a traditional and important area of cooperation between the two countries. Bulgaria has trained 3,600 scientific personnel and about 30,000 highly skilled workers of Vietnam. (In the photo, the two presidents pose for a photo ahead of their talks in Hanoi on November 25).
Labour cooperation is also a potential area, as it has been maintained and promoted with the establishment of many partnerships between Vietnamese and Bulgarian localities. During the talks, President Luong Cuong welcomes President Rumen Radev’s visit which he says will help create new momentum to enhance the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
President Rumen Radev thanks the Vietnamese side for the warm welcome and expresses his desire to increase cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam.
