VOV.VN - When visiting Hai Hoa beach in Tinh Gia commune of the north-central coastal province of Thanh Hoa early in the morning these days, people have the chance to glimpse local fishermen throwing nets to catch fish swimming near the shore.
"Keo luoi rung" is a long-standing conventional method of catching seafood which makes use of nets to catch fish near the seashore in the early morning.
At the cracking dawn, fishermen often get up early to prepare tools and equipment so they can head out to the sea for a big catch.
The work is done by a group of around 20 to 30 people, using a net that stretches for about thousands of metres in length.
They catch fish by tying ropes to their waists, walking backwards, and making use of all of their strength to pull in fishing nets.
Each turn takes around 30 minutes if local people row their boat out to sea to set up the net.
The net is pulled ashore along with the fish.
On the shore, the fishermen divide themselves into two teams and hold one end each to haul the net in.
Once the net is pulled to the shore, some fishermen sort the catch out, while the others prepare the net for the next catch.
The fish are classified before being sent to the market to be sold.
Earnings are shared equally among the members.
